4th of July In Onna Village!

This past weekend we celebrated the 4th close to home!  We began the day with an early morning swim at Torii Beach (only 5 minutes away) while the tide was still high!

We lunched and napped at home, then headed out with our good friends, the Traficans, to Onna Village for dinner and fireworks at Moon Beach Resort! Well, that was the plan anyway…but the buffet at the resort couldn’t fit us in until 6:00, and all 4 kiddos (and all 3 adults) were hungry! So we instead stopped off for some Okinawa Soba and mango shave ice!! YUM!

So we already knew we loved mango shave ice because we had it in Taipei!! YUM!

When we finally made it to the resort (after a dramatic vomiting incident and subsequent clean up session – poor little G, he’s got a sensitive tummy), we discovered that it was uber busy!! So we decided that with 4 crazy kids (one of which might throw up again soon), we would find a different beach within firework viewing distance.  Only a quarter mile south and we came to a completely vacant and gorgeous beach.  We watched the sunset and although we left before any fireworks, it was still a wonderful 4th of July!
